NO SLEEP NOVEMBER 2020:
ONLINE EDITION

During the height of the covid pandemic in 2020, while in-person theatre events were not safe, The Living Room endeavoured to produce its annual 24-hour playwriting festival entirely online.

Just like in previous years, playwrights were teamed with actors and assistants, while producers worked to bring together the show as a cohesive performance which was streamed live to those who had purchased tickets. Everyone worked from their own homes.

In order to maintain a sense of immersion and avoid technical roadblocks, all plays were required to be written as though they could be happening in the manner in which they were being performed, i.e. people talking into cameras.

Despite a mountain of logistical hurdles, the event exceeded expectations and was a welcome outlet for creativity and community during a very dark time.

The event was held November 28 - 29, 2020.
